Zippo 200 Rolls Through Watkins Glen
Marcos Ambrose bested Kyle Busch and the rest of the field in the Zippo 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen on August 8. In a race that closely resembled the 2008 contest, Ambrose made a bold pass on then race leader Kyle Busch in the “bus stop” portion of the winding road course. The surprise pass pushed Busch off the course causing him to lose several positions to Ambrose, the hard-charging Aussie. With the win Ambrose notched his second consecutive victory at the Zippo 200. For his efforts Ambrose took home the coveted Zippo 200 Steuben Glass trophy and solid gold Zippo lighter.
The fantastic finish to the race was a culmination of a day that saw Nashville recording artist Megan Linville render a stunning version of the national anthem. The anthem was followed by the “Start your engines!” command delivered by Syracuse University head football coach Doug Marrone. The green flag drop came courtesy of Zippo employee Terri Carty. Ter
ri, a 21-year Zippo employee currently working in the Plating Department, was the lucky winner of a company wide contest.
