In April, professional surfer Peter Mendia hooked up with Zippo through close friend and Zippo District Sales Representative James Jolly. Jolly was able to set up a sponsorship with Mendia that has stirred up the surfing world. Now sporting the Zippo logo, Mendia says that “people trip out when they see it on my board…it’s been such a positive response. Zippo is huge!”

On July 30 in West Palm Beach, FL, Mendia teamed up with Zippo and signed autographs at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which hosts bands like Slipknot, Disturbed, and Underoath. Days later Mendia again joined Zippo at the Projekt Revolution Tour in West Palm Beach. Mendia is hopeful the sponsorship will open up future opportunities with Mendia and the Zippo name showing up in some top-notch magazines.
